Honda CRF 450X, First Ride

Honda CRF 450X

Break in, Ya Sure. I broke it in alright. The owners manual should read,

Hold On and Shut Up

It's more like this thing broke me in... But I'm Still Smiling!

Coming soon, if I get my butt off the seat, a recounting of what its like stepping up to this fantastic ride. Ya Gotta Love it, it's a totally spine-tingling, bind bending, gut wrenching experience. So see ya later – I’m going riding…

Just ran across this stuff, from what I've been hearing it's good stuff and can stop those traffic

Works on your streetbike license plates too.

If you ride fast like most of us do, this stuff is like GOLD. Saves on lawyers, traffic fines, court costs, and just the inconvenience of getting nabbed.

I agree totally, Honda did their homework on this one and scored a perfect A. Dad was nervous about the size of the bike and power it produced at first but after a few rides is looking at upgrading to the 450X also. It's nice when a bike is so well made that even a fairly new rider can be made to look good. What a joy this bike is to ride especially on the trails around the Kenai area. I will say that on the track, the crf450r is better suited but the x is still a lot of fun. Thanks for adding your thoughts to the site.

Did you get this fuel problem figured out? Here is where I would start.

  1. Be sure the fuel is turned off at the end of he day and during transport.
  2. Check for any forign material in the carb bowl.
  3. Follow the starting sequence precisely. When cold the race machines will not tolerate any excess fuel, i.e. don't touch the throttle. Not as touchy as Dads 1999 Yammy YZF250 but still something to remember.
  4. Get to know the characteristics of the choke in the various temperatures. Hot Bike, Cold Bike, Hot Day, Alaska Day? Berrrrr. Each bike is just a bit different.
  5. If you have changed the exhaust, accelerator pump, air filter etc, this can all effect the starting of the bike. It just needs to be worked out and then stick with any changes.

Try this and let us know as to the outcome. If you find something else we would really be interested in hearing that also.

Now, if I could just find a set of hondabars that refuse to bend under the greasy side up landings I seem to be profecting lately? Good Luck.
